Can you advise me which tablet PC to buy?
I'm overwhelmed by the choices available and I desperately need help deciding as I only have 2 weeks in the UK before I move to Africa to teach for a few years… Thanks!
NB: Maputo where I will be living for the next 2 years only has 2G networks and iPhones will not work there at all.
These are sort of in order of priority as I realise I probably can't get all of this in one package.
Ability to write and edit maths formulae with a stylus
DJ application with decent quality audio connection. Nothing too fancy as I don't really 'mix'. I just blend.
largish memory - 32-64Gb+ minimum
USB connection to plug in external Hds etc
Access to Dropbox or other cloud storage of about 100-500Gb
ebook reader
google earth or other mapping/navigation application
Office software for making presentations docs etc (or I could just use Google docs).
PDF reader
Internet access for browsing pages of tide tables, guitar tabs etc
skype
emails
camera and video recorder with GPS
decent quality microphone for sound recording - ambient noises as well as live music
voice memos
longish battery life
rugged - perhaps sand and water resistant
translation tool - like a Babel fish!
ability to run windows based Graphics calculator emulator software would be a bonus
If you want access to internet, USB storage, and Wi-Fi, I believe ASUS have tablet and also Google tablet has USB port for your storage.
I strongly recommend you Asus Transformer Pad, it's like the best of tablets. You can choose btw a storage of 16-72 GB and you can also put an external card to increase memory incase you finished all the internal space. And you can also get an external keyboard just like normal PC, with 12 MP camera with USB support.
If they have Wi-Fi then certainly any tablet will work there. You may want to go to the store and try them out each since you have so many requirements.
Get the Microsoft Surface Pro. It's more than just a tablet, it's a real PC tablet running the full Windows 8 operating system. It's as small and light as a regular tablet but as powerful as the fastest laptops out there. It has pretty much everything you ask for in your list.
It weights just 2 pounds.
It has 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.
It has these ports: Full-size USB 3.0, microSDXC card slot, Headset jack, Mini DisplayPort, Cover port.
It has 5 hours battery life.
It has a powerful nvidia graphics card in which you can run all kinds of windows programs and games.
The only thing in your list that it doesn't have in GPS.
It's $900. I bought mine 5 months ago and am very happy with it.
Buy iPad.
- Tablet snapshots on the Tablet and iPhone? I'm not very tech-savvy guy, go please forgive me. But does a Samsung note 10.1-the 2013- snapshot consume more memory space than a iPhone 4 in general? Here are the dimensions(again I do not know what I'm doing) Tablet(Note) 10.1" widescreen 1280x800 WXGA TFT LCD 149 pixels per inch (ppi) iPhone 4 640 x 960 pixels, 3.5 inches (~330 ppi)
- Should I buy a laptop or a tablet? How do pages display on a tablet? I have an iPhone 6s Plus. It almost seems redundant to buy a tablet, but they are more affordable than a laptop. I prefer the way web pages display on a laptop. I have never had a tablet, do they display pages more like a phone or a laptop?
- Do you advise me to put a case on iPhone 5? I love iPhone's aesthetics and its materials, but I'm afraid to ruin the glass of the camera, when I place it somewhere. With a case, there would be a couple of millimeters between the camera and the ground where it is placed on. But I think it's a pity to cover an iPhone with a case. Do you think it is really resistant the sapphire crystal lens? @DigitGeek: ahahah be sure, be safe, have an iPhone case! Lot of laugh: D
- Best unlocked iPhone plan advise? I have a Iphone 4 unlocked and I wanted to know what plan should I get? I mean since it is a GSM phone it only can use ATT and Tmobile. Other prepaid companys like straight talk, att gophone, ect work with this. So my question would be what service is the best and cheapest. I'm searching for the best coverage and data plan.
