Can you jailbreak a factory unlocked iphone 3gs?

Can you? And, if I needed to restore it will it mess up my factory unlock?

Certainly. It all depends on what version you're running different programs like redsnow or evasion require different versions. Restoring isn't necessary however. Whenever you restore it does not affect a factory unlocked phone because it is permanetley unlocked no matter what.

I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
