Can you switch Wi-Fi networks on an iPhone 5?

I want to get an iPhone 5 and I have a question. I'm going to get a plan i.e. Verison AT&T, but can I turn that off and switch to my own Wi-Fi network to save money? And then switch back to the other network to call?

You can set it up so that it naturally defaults to your home network. When you get a call it isn't using Wi-Fi, it's using 3 or 4g.

Tmobile has Wi-Fi calling but it still uses minutes. I don't think Verizon/AT&T have that.

The idea is merely to give you a better signal, but not eliminate your plan entirely.
