Can you use an iphone like an ipod?

My mom got an iphone 5 but she no longer wishes to keep her service. See my dad has the Samsung Galaxy 3 and my mom got an iphone 5. But my parents being the smart ones never listened to my warning about Verizons overly priced plans. We have all been on a family share plan on Verizon for years (me and my sister and my parents) but none of us ever had smartphones.

My dad was saying the bill is getting too expensive so he and my mother are both looking to disconnect service on their phones and get a basic phone instead so they don't have to pay for the smartphone plan. So they were wondering if they can use their phones like an ipod where you can connect to Wi-Fi even though they will no longer have verizon service. Or do they need to have mobile service to keep their music and internet on their phone with Wi-Fi? How does that work?

You can use an iPhone as an iPod and not lose music. You will only have internet connectivity when on Wi-Fi.

The big thing is that they probably on a contract for cell service, including the data plan, so going to a basic phone, they would be subject to a cancellation fee or have to continue paying the data plan.

Both iphone5 and sam3 are the best smartphones. But i don, t think with ipads except 2 you can make voice calls! So long.
