Chances of my parcel getting lost with Royal Mail?

I'm selling an Iphone 5s to someone who's already paid me (securely) but doesn't want to pay delivery cost.

What are the chances?

Well IF he wants it then tell him to pay up for the phone being sent by recorded delivery, either that or just take the amount from what he paid you and post it using recorded delivery. But just sending it without secure delivery is taking a huge risk, I have had things get lost in the post too so if I were you i'd take precautions.

If you aren't going to send it via special delivery then the chances of it getting lost / stolen in the post are high.
You need to send it special delivery otherwise the buyer can make out he didn't get it and you will be out of money and have no iPhone 5S.
Pay for the delivery out of your own money at least then you can track the parcel and will have proof its been delivered otherwise you run the risk of being ripped off.
My mum recently posted a Samsung Galaxy S4 to my brother via special delivery and it cost no more than £7.

I've bought over 400 items from ebay and I never pay the extra for registered post.
All my items have arrived safely.

Not only lost but damaged too.Royal Mail are not very careful handling goods. It seems like you have already agreed to pay the postage in your deal, so you must decide how much cover you want.

You can get a receipt called proof of posting for any parcel you send which is free. Just ask at the PO counter when you send the parcel. If he doesn't want to pay for recorded delivery, etc. Then that's his responsibility; stuff still gets lost with recorded delivery too. You will have proof that you posted his item and if it does get lost then it's up to him to take it up with Royal Mail.

If the guy refuses to pay for delivery. Then refund him and list again. Why should you be out of pocket. If you wish to post, Do use special delivery and declare the value, as if it does get lost, you won't be out of pocket when/if you claim from R.M.

  • Saturday royal mail delivery? I ordered an iPhone yesterday (Thursday) and it said delivery took 48 hours I have just checked my emails and got a confirmed dispatch note that said, "Congratulations, your brand new mobile phone package will be despatched this evening by Royal Mail Special delivery, who will deliver the next working day # to the following address" Will it come tomorrow in the mail or Will it be Monday?
  • Problem with Royal Mail tracking number? I bought a phone after selling my iphone and the seller is a 'true' seller. He's sold 10, 000+ items and he sent the item via Special before 1pm next day guaranteed, when i tracked it earlier it said it was in their network and on time for tomorrow, now it's saying 'There's no data available for this tracking reference, please try again later'
  • Posting something using Royal Mail? I may sound stupid but I'm sending a small package (iPhone charger) to a friend of mine who lives in Manchester (I'm in London) I've put a 2nd class stamping on the package do I have to go in to a Royal Mail or can I just put it in a Royal Mail post box?
  • Lost my iPhone on the train in Philly, what are the chances ill get it back? Left it on the train. Stupid mistake. What are the chances it'll be handed in? Tried to call the train company but it is late on a Sunday so their phone line is closed. It has a tracking app but the battery is flat. I will be able to track it, if whoever finds it thinks to charge it.
