Changed my number, but people can still text?

I recently changed to a new number for my iphone 4s, but how come people from my contacts can still text me when i haven't given them my number yet? My friend says when i text her my old number appears in a new window and when she texts me its in a window with my new number. How can i fix this? I don't want certain people to know my new number! This was all done in imessage by the way.

Probably cause its connected or u sent a message saying your new number

  • Iphone problem! I can't get text messages from some people, but can from others? I have a iphone 4, running on the latest version; ios6.0.1? I believe if I'm not mistaken. I use it on t-mobile, i believe it is factory unlocked. I do use imessage, i attempted to turn it off and see if the person could text me again; still haven't received. I do receive text message from some people. I restarted my phone a couple of times. has anyone had this problem? If so what should i problem check to try to fix
  • IMessage Suddenly changed to a different number? Out of the blue my imessages started sending from a phone number I have never seen before. Texts still send from my number, but when I go into IMessage settings, send and receive, my number isn't even an option. I can receive texts and send them, but can only receive imessages on the random number. We switched carriers, but this was 3 days ago, and I have not had this problem until now. I tried to reset factory setting but that did not work. I have the IPhone 6, running iOS 8
  • If someone were to block my text now number would it block my normal number? I was teasing my girlfriend on my text now and she blocked me and I tired calling her and texting her on my normal number but she won't reply and it only run once and hung up. She has an iPhone, would it block my normal number if she blocked my text now number?
  • I changed my number, now how do I change it on in my Iphone? I have an iPhone 5c and I can't figure out how to change my number where it says "my number". Is it possible for me to do it, or would I have to go to the sprint store?
