Changes in family and society since 1950 to now?
Why is it now acceptable for teens to have sex before married?
how have women in families changed?
why is divorce now acceptable?
why is it now acceptable for kids to have iphones ect at a younger age?
why are women no longer staying at home as house wife's?
why are men now cooking and have more house responsibility?
why is it now ok to swear?
why is it ok to wear certain clothes?
what has influenced all this change? And why are we changing in this way?
Because the world grew up a bit… We still have a long way to go though
During the 1950's, the typical American family consisted of a father who went to some other place to work, a mother who stayed at home, and two or more children who were supervised almost exclusively by the mother.
During the 1960's, society experienced a "sexual revolution," which led to a greater acceptance of sexual experiences before marriage. It also embraced a greater sense of individualism, instead of the traditional familism. This led to the highest divorce rate that we've ever had. It peaked about 1980 and has declined somewhat since, but not to the marital stability that was evident during the 1950's.
In the latter part of the twentieth century, inflation continued in the economy, but stagnation occurred in personal income. It was no longer possible for a family to survive on one income. Also, expectations rose. So, things that were considered to be luxuries in the 1950's became necessary commodities. For example, it is now considered to be a safety factor for children to have mobile phones.
Especially among middle-class people, as women became financial contributors to the family, men began taking on some responsibilities that were seen as typical women's roles. But, it is still true that women do the majority of housework as well as working for wages or salary outside the home.
Because of no-fault divorces and the fact that people are living longer, we're seeing a greater fragmentation of the family. The increase of one-person families, for example, has been remarkable.
Popular music and movies have made "swearing" less taboo than it once was. Fashion has become more individualized. In the past, it was considered important to dress like everyone else. Interestingly, automobiles have gone in the opposite direction. In the 1950's, makes and models were quite different from one another; today cars look pretty much the same.
- Why is society like this today? I'm 17 and when i'm on public transport, everyone has an iphone or a samsung galaxy they are always on it, i don't know what they are on, but they are on it. i have an iphone, but i rarely use it and what i can't believe is why the little kids have iphones why is it?
- What will Society be like in 2000-3000 years? I think future humans will laugh at us. Just like how we laugh at some the romans and greeks ideas about gods and such… I also think technology will be incredibly advanced, seeing as just as much as something like the iPhone has advanced in just 5 years.
- What Society thing will you not conform to? .anything from the latest iPhone to the (for girls) the latest skirt or makeup? Are you a donkey following the carrot or do you have a mind of your own? Are you waiting to be TOLD what to like or can you make up you own mind?
- Is the Pope accurate in saying our society worships money over God? It is obvious. People are putting worldly things before Jesus and other people. They worship money, celebrities, things, IPhones and other products but ignore the needs of others. We have put things before people, family, and decency, and value money over life. Our society is built on consumption which is not what God intended. I like this new Pope, he lives the life Jesus would live.
