Could i sell my iphone and report to sprint that someone stole my iphone?

Will they find out if i sold it?

Added (1). Well i have insurance on my account so they can just give me another phone.

Added (2). I don't mean reporting it to the person who i sold it to

That'd be a douche bag move

The person you sell it to would find you after they get released…

I bought a phone that the owner reported lost, after I bought it. That makes it a bad ESN and makes the phone unusable… Unless they flash it to another network. Luckily, I only wanted to use it as a Wi-Fi device. But yeah that renders the phone useless. Reporting it to the carrier is what makes it a bad ESN. Also the person you sell it to, could then get arrested for having a stolen phone.

If you did this the person who bought it would not be able to use the phone anymore. As soon as you report it it can't ever be activated again on the sprint network (We block the ESN). Happens all the time and I deal with TONS of VERY UPSET people who buy phones from people and then have it stop working a few days later due to the seller reporting it lost/stolen.

If you report the cell phone stolen, the phone will NO LONGER be active anymore. Sprint will block the ESN number on it and the phone will now no longer be useful for phone call purposes anymore.
