Could police find a fully restored, factory-restored stolen iPhone 5?

Added (1). No, I DO NOT own a stolen iPhone 5 (and I don't need one since I have an iPhone 4s). But some of my friends and others I know say they got their stolen, and with all the iPhone thefts on the rise (IN MY LOCAL AREA), I'm just CURIOUS. I'm CURIOUS as to what the police are able to do. It's as simple as that. I'm JUST CURIOUS AS TO HOW EFFICIENT THE POLICE ARE. Nothing more.

Why? Do you have one? Are you being stupid enough to admit possession of Stolen Property in public?

In most jurisdictions, don't count on too much support from the police.

They could do this fairly easily if they wanted to- provided the phone's battery is plugged in and it's in range of a transmission tower, it can be accessed through the cell phone grid- smartphones also usually have GPS capabilities that can be used. So with appropriate warrants to locate that phone, it would be easy for them to the police to track it down.

That said, the police are not going to go to very much trouble to track down a stolen mobile phone. Quite simply, they usually have more important things to do with their time, and there are more serious crimes out there than missing phones. If you happened to know who it was they who'd stolen it, they might send an officer round to investigate. Apart from that you'd probably just tell you to report it stolen to the phone company, who can "lock" the handset preventing it from being used.

No they couldnt find a stolen anything even if it was put on their car with a note saying stolen phone tape to it

they are to busy busting the kid down the street for smoking pot and playing games

stand up to them just like the bullies at school and they get scared
