Will a cracked phone screen damage the phone s usuability?
I just cracked my iPhone 6s today and my heart is crushed. I have not told my parents this yet, and I do not think that they will let me repair it/buy a new phone.
If I just purchase a plastic screen protector and leave my cracked screen be, will it damage my phone itself in any way?
Should I even bother getting it fixed?

Usually, a cracked screen won't interfere with the phone's normal operation. It just looks bad.
However, depending on how and where the phone is cracked, it can cause issues with the digitiser (touch screen) and may make things randomly happen; like random apps opening, etc. In addition, the glass can cut your fingers so it is a safety hazard, but since you will be buying a protector, then that's not going to be much of an issue.
Take it somewhere & pay to get the screen replaced. Then buy a case to protect it, nothing pretty but protective.
- Will water stains on my iPhone screen damage my phone? Some water managed to get under my iPhone screen through a crack on the screen while it was raining. My phone works fine as of now, but there's a light blue stain and another white stain which look like dripping water under my phone screen.
