Damaged Product problems- no refund?
I have an advent laptop but over month ago a faulty iphone lighting cable sparked while inserted into my laptop and destroyed the laptop. I rang apple and told them that there was a problem with my cable and that my laptop won't turn on now. I sent pictures of the cable to worker for apple and he then sent out an envelope for me to send the cable over to them. After about 2 weeks i received the cable and i got a call from another worker sayin that the case was put into his hands while the original worker was away. He then asked me if i received the new cable and i told him i did, i then mentioned to him about the old cable breaking my laptop and he said he never heard of it. He then told me he would have to send the cable away to america for further investigation, so i was ok with that. He then comes back to me a month later and tells me that my case is being sent to another worker who deals with that sort of issue. She then asks me to send her pictures of the laptop so i did. She rang back two days later and tells me that all she can do is give me a voucher for apple. I don't think that this is acceptable? I'm starting collage in a month studying computer science, i need a laptop! And the fact that it took a full month or more of having no laptop to be told i won't even get a repair because my laptop isn't an apple product? What can i do? Help!
Added (1). But why should i have to pay for something thats there fault, many of my friends have an iphone 5 and said their cables are constantly breaking, i think its a joke that they can see that there was a problem with the cable and send out a new one but when it comes to something more expensive they can't do anything about it? I need a laptop and the voucher that saves me x% is useless when buying apple computers because i won't be able to afford one either way?
About the only thing you can do is drive to Best Buy and get a new laptop.
Get over it and carry on with life. There's no way you can prove the cable did anything to the laptop. There's also no way you can prove the cable was faulty and not just warn out… Which is your problem. Apple is not going to come back with anything for you other then a small coupon for X% off if you want to buy and Apple computer.
So… Go somewhere else to get a repair… Its ridiculous to ask Apple to repair a product that isn't their own… Go to best buy! You are going about all this the wrong way! Of course all Apple can do is give you a voucher… Its NOT their product (the laptop) you can either take it, or not, but thats your choice. But since its not an apple product (the laptop) you will not be receiving a refund from THEM…
where did you actually GET the laptop?
edit: prove its their fault… Sometimes things break… And most the time its not anyones doing or fault. But seriously… Read what i previously wrote… They sent out for a new cable… They are NOT responsible for your laptop… ONLY the cable. Which you said yourself that they sent for a new one. You want the other item fixed, take it somewhere that isn't Apple. Because Apple only fixes their own product, nothing else.
- What's the difference from an OEM product and an original product? I need a new charger for my iPhone and I don't know if I should go buy an OEM charger from eBay or go buy an actual apple charger from Walmart that's going to be way more expensive. Since OEM is basically the same thing without retail packaging, would there be a difference in quality?
