Did cold weather damage my iPhone battery?
I know that a battery won't hold its charge as well when used in the cold, but does it cause permanent damage?
I go on long walks in all seasons. Several times this winter, my iPhone has shut itself off because it got too cold while I was outside.
I feel as though ever since that started to happen, my battery life has diminished even when using it indoors.
It's an iPhone 4S. I got it at Christmas of 2011.
So is the cold ruining my battery?
And if I never let it get cold again, will the battery continue to diminish in strength?
The battery is fried and will need to be replaced. This is an age issue- not really directly connected to the weather problem.
Yes cold weather dose damage the battery coz all the juice in-side the battery get dense and then it stop conducting!
You got your phone over a year ago. Your battery already is lasting like 60% of da original battery life, if da cold has ruined it, i suggest getting a new battery, you can replace it urself and buy da battery w/ a tool kit on ebay and there's utube vids on dis
As the first poster said, it's more of the age of the battery than anything, phone batteries wear out with age, most last between 1 and 3 years (3 years is severely pushing it) before they begin losing their life, you got yours in 2011, it is now 2013, your battery has simply worn out and you need to replace it. The cold had very little if any effect on it.

I have an Iphone 5 and i usually keep it charging, but when it's like on 70% and i'm outside in 15-40 degree weather, all of a sudden it says that I only have 20% left, than about 1 minute later it says I have 10% left and than 20 seconds later, it dies.
