Did I short circuit my iPhone through water damage?
I tripped and fell into the pool with my iPhone 4s in my back pocket. I immediately picked up the phone and handed it off to my cousin outside of the pool, and we put it in rice overnight. As I was handing it off to her, I noticed that the phone was surprisingly still on the unlock screen instead of being black, but just as I tried to unlock it, it shut off. We kept it in rice overnight, and I just now got home from her house with it. It was completely unresponsive, so I plugged it into the charger. The apple logo appears, my phone loads to the unlock screen, and I unlock it. The corner says that the battery is only at 1%, so I know that it must have been stone dead. Everything seems to be fine except the screen is slightly blurry in the corners, and then it suddenly shuts off. The next few times I tried to turn it on via the charger, it has been unresponsive. Did my phone short circuit? Or is there still a chance that it will work after being in the rice that I put it in for a little longer?
Its toast, the rice trick doesn't work on iphones.
While rice may have helped, turning the phone on and charging it, in less than 72 hours, has pretty much doomed the phone.
Also the chemicals in pool water are very corrosive to the metal electronics in the phone. Bleach/Chlorine and Salt are the worst things other just just plain H2o that you can have come in contact with the inside of the phone. Even once it is dry, the chlorine will continue to corrode the metal in the phone. Had it been saltwater, the salt crystals would start ground within 8 hours and pretty much would destroy the phone. Which would need to be flushed out of the phone first, before drying.
So if this were a regular pool or a salt water pool, it would be best to take the phone to a cell phone repair shop to get it properly flushed and dried. (That is what I would have done if I didn't have a desiccant at home other than rice, to dry the phone)
- Will this circuit of a solar iphone charger work? Will this circuit work or ruin my iphone? I need to know before i purchase parts. I'm trying to make a solar iphone charger but i'm new to electronics.thanks!
- Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
- Iphone submerged in water, logic board has water damage? My phone was under water for 10 sec. Atleast and in my wet pocket for about 2 minutes. Led wouldnt turn off and power / lock button didn't work… Put it in rice and two days later i charge it apple logo pops up then writing pops up above the apple logo. Will the guy taking my phone to clean it out and try to fix it need my passcode? And will my contacts, apps, photos, music, internet history still be on my phone? Like when he fixes it turns and on and stuff?
