DNS server problem, is it due to my router?

Had my router for about 2 years now, never had a problem, all of a sudden I get no internet connection for most of the time, and windows diagnostics says it can't reach the DNS. I GET THIS ON All DEVICES, NOT JUST MY LAPTOP, EVEN MY IPHONE. I stress this because my ISP have tried to blame my computer when it clearly isn't. I will attach pictures of the error message.

I've tried changing the default DNS, all that, DNS flush, /ipconfig stuff, reset router, reseat cables, still nothing. I've rang my ISP and they are ringing me soon about a new router, I just wanted to know if it is definatly the problem as they werent much help.

Try the link below, it's for the New York Times. If it works, then your router is accessing the internet just fine.

Your DNS Server may be legitimately down. Try a different one.

DNS is the coding that converts a web address name into code for the computer to run and vice versa.

Your problem could be a problem with the internet itself and should start working again in its own time, it should work by tomorrow.

I agree your dns is down. Check with your provider

The default DNS might be down are wrongly set. To confirm it open websites by their IP address. If they open, then its a DNS problem.

eg: 74.125.236.39 [opens Google]

If that is the case check DNS settings in Network Connections.

Try new DNS:

You might want to change DNS address in your router and modem along with the network settings in your computer.

Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless.
