Do I need separate apps to use the iPhone Health app s Steps and Cycling Distance functions?

I have an iPhone 5. Perhaps the 6 has something for this that the 5 doesn't?

Yes, unlike the 5S and 6, the 5 does not have the motion coprocessor which records steps and activity. You will need to record that in another app and link that app to the Health app.

The iPhone 5 doesn't track steps or other movements. The 5s tracks steps and distance, and you can see those with the Health app without any need for any other app, although the Health app display is pretty basic. The iPhone 6 also tracks stairs.

  • Where can I buy a cycling bag like this for my bike? I saw a cycling bag for iphone on YouTube, but I can't find the video now. The bag is fixed on the handlebar. I want to buy a cycling bag like this for my bike. Where can I buy it?
  • What GPS tracking iphone apps (cycling and running) can be used without a 3G signal? I have been using both endomondo and mapmyride for my running and cycling. When I came to track my mountain biking neither of the apps would start a workout because I was out in the sticks with no network connection. I wasn't expecting any live maps, but was expecting either one of the above to be able to track my coordinates by GPS, to be uploaded later. Shame really because I like the apps. Do they actually works without a network signal and I'm missing something?
  • Problems with health app? (6s and iOS 9.2)? Hi so I got an iPhone 6s yesterday and it is completely updated but I'm having trouble with the health app. It doesn't count my steps or anything. I put everything on the dashboard and they are there but they aren't changing. I've quit the app and opened it again, which still didn't work AND then it reset my medical id? I also got an app that counts steps and that works but the health app still doesn't. My phone isn't showing up as a source in the health app.
  • My aunt and uncle have the same Apple ID. I think they need separate ones, do they? I've told them to get separate ones in the event that they need to back up their phones or get new ones. Don't they need separate ones? They hardly back up their phones or hook up their iPhones to the computer.
