Do iphones get good reception?
I'm thinking about getting an iphone, but i live way out in the boonies where it is usually hard to get a signal. I have a crappy flip phone right now and it gets a much better signal out here than my boyfriends Droid does (although we both have Verizon). I was wondering if it is because the newer phones don't have as strong of an antenna or something? Anyone live out in the sticks and have this issue with their iphone?
Reception is not just based on the phone itself. The network you're on does play a factor on getting reception!
Considering that you & your boyfriend have the same provider I would suppose the difference in your phones would explain the difference in your signal reception. I personally don't think the older phones necessarily have stronger antennas though. We live in "the sticks" also. My Dad has an older flip phone & he has to almost hang off the front porch upside down to find enough signal to connect a call! Lol On the other hand, my 3 kids have iPhones & have had trouble w/ their service also. (<<not as much trouble as my Dad--just spotty signal) We contacted Verizon (provider), they opened a ticket on our complaint, said they would investigate, & get back to us w/ their findings. When they finally contacted us back they said the phones weren't the problem at all. Instead, it was our poor positioning in relation to the location of their towers. They ended up sending us a network extender (like a booster) & they didn't charge us for it! We have since learned that Verizon provided the same to several of our neighbors. I was very satisfied w/ their handling of the situation & super glad that they didn't charge us $200 (typical cost) for the extender… Which by the way was the "end all fix all" to our problem! Even my Dad's dinosaur phone has no prob now! So… If you decide to purchase an iPhone & have issues w/ the svc---maybe you can contact Verizon & request an investigation as we did? As long as they find themselves & their towers (or lack there of) to be at fault, they will work with you to resolve the issue.
Yes they do, but reception is more down to the carrier & its signal strength in your area.
- Would i get better reception with 4G? Where i live i don't get good service at all. Almost none unless i go to town. I have to text thru a Wi-Fi texting app. If i got a 4G phone like the Iphone 4 or something would i get better reception?
- Will cell reception get better after I get an iphone5? I currently have a very cheap cell phone that I got for free more than 2 years ago which is not capable of 4G. Now, I'm considering upgrading to an iphone 5. Will that improve the reception and chances that I will get less dropped calls and other problems?
- Why people like iPhones? I can't never get people who like iphones to give a good reason, why? Some say it easy, but a lot have no clue on how to use their own phones. Can someone explain something useful that great about iphone? Everything they think is special other phones have been doing for years.
- Verizon iPhone 4 very slow with 3G reception? Even when I have a full 5 bars of reception on my Verizon iPhone 4, it can still take a very long time to load even the simplest pages or send messages. Usually when this happens, the circular revolving loading symbol that appears next to the "3G" will lag, it won't stay consistently turning which makes me think it's having a hard time loading pages. Also, my messages will sometimes send twice or reach the recipient hours after I send them a text.
