Do we look the same to other people as we do in the mirror?

Ok, so you know when you're taking a selfie on your iPhone and it does that flippy thingy is that what we look like to other people or do we look the same as we do in mirrors? Please answer

Well if you think about it, you're looking at yourself from the camera's view, which is how someone would see you so the second one. But have you ever looked at someone else through a mirror? They look pretty much the same so chances are you don't look much different in pictures than you do in the mirror.

Pictures and mirror are the same, you might think its diff but it isn't.

According to the mere exposure effect, which states that we become accostumed to external stimuli the more we're exposed to them, has a role to play here!

When we wake up and get ready we usually stare into a mirror and this image of ourselves becomes engrained into our brains as how we think we truly look. We become more fond of the image we see staring back at us in the mirror so seeing yourself in a reversed view (as in the selfie) we see how others view us, which may look different but only because of the mere exposure effect!

This is also why when we look at pictures of ourselves we may not like them or say: "do I really look like that?!" Lol

The mirror shows a reflection, i.e. Unless you are 100% symmetrical-which is unlikely, ppl see u as you are on photos

  • Why does my face look longer in my iphone camera than in the mirror? I know that the mirror is a flip of what I "really" look like, but why does my iphone camera make my face look long? Whenever I ask people what face shape I have, they usually say round. Buy when I look at myself on my iphone I see an ugly oval. Help! Here are some pictures of me: iice.tumblr.com/tagged/me
  • Why do I look ugly in my camera, but not in the mirror? Whenever I look into my iPhone camera I look extremely pale, my zits look extremely red, and my eyes just appear "brown" but when I look into the mirror I look a little tan, and my zits look very small and not that big of a deal, and my eyes appear more greenish and hazel. And no there's no lighting of the room when I'm looking into the mirror it's just natural light. Is it just the camera that makes me look ugly? Or is my mirror wrong and my Cameras right? :/
  • Why do I look different in pictures taken in the mirror? Compared to pictures taken of me or on my iPhone(front facing camera)? I find when I'm in front of a mirror taking a pic I look different. Is it because of the refection? And which one looks more like me? I'm guessing the one taken in front on the mirror?
  • Why do I look bad in far away pics but good In mirror? So I took a pic with my crush and my friends took it. I have an iphone. But anywho I looked bad and kinda big. But when I got home I looked decent. In the pic my eyes were like blurry and you couldn't see my lashes. So what's more accurate pics or mirror BC In that pic I looked horrible but my crush looked nice
