Do Windows Smartphones have the same apps as those in Android or iPhones?

And are there a lot of free apps available for Windows phones?

I'm not really that much familiar with how Windows phones work because I've mostly been using Android phones, but right now I'm considering buying the Nokia Lumia 800, and I'm curious as to how apps in Windows phones work.

They might have some of the same apps but windows has its own type of store and iPhones are better anyways

Windows phone has an App store http://www.windowsphone.com/...n-gb/store, but it's inferior to Apple's App Store or Google Play. There are a few decent (free) apps there, but no where near as many as Apple or Google.

Microsoft also went the Apple route of restricting the ability to sideload apps. Android is open and allows sideloading, so you can use totally free alternative app stores like, http://www.mobiles24.com.

Dropbox is probably the most popular app for transferring files from your computer to your smartphone, but Windows 8 users don't have access to this app right now.
ARMED is a popular turn-based strategy game with a futuristic backdrop.
Cut the Rope
This app has been very popular on Android and iOS smartphones. The concept is quite simple. You have to cut ropes to make a piece of candy fall into a monster's month.
Why bother buying a Kindle when you can use the same service on your smartphone?

TVCatchup
While its channels are limited, this is a great app if you usually miss your favorite shows.
