Does iOS 7 erase data from an iPhone 5?

Like music or apps?

It shouldn't but always do a backup before updating just in case. Some people are reporting their phones crashing and needing to be put into recovery thereby losing all data… Backup to be safe.

No, although you have to have enough free space (2.9 GB) to download it and if you're like me, and had nowhere near enough space, you might have to delete some apps or music.

  • Will syncing my iPhone erase all of my data? My computer had a hard drive problem so they replaced my computer. I know syncing my iPhone (4s if it matters) to the computer will wipe the current music on my phone, which is fine. I just want to know if it will wipe my other data. Such as pictures, apps, things like that. I would just like to know if it does or not before I sync just so I can save my pictures and things to another place.
  • Will restoring my Iphone to facorty settings erase my data? I have upgraded my iphone 4s to the new iOS, and then a few days later, tried connecting my device to my PC ( i have the new itunes). It, however, tells me that it can't connect to my iphone and that i should go to 'Preference' and select to 'restore to factory' settings. Will this erase my data and 'degrade' my phone to the previous iOS?
