Does iOS 7 have shorter battery life than iOS 6?
I'm still on iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S and iPod touch 5. I kind of want to upgrade, but at the same time, don't want to because I have heard the people with iOS 7 on their devices have had their device charged at 100% at the beginning of the day and you can't use it at all and the battery just drops to like 30% at mid day. Is this true? I'm kind of confused.
Ios 5 is faster

I would not upgrade. If you do it is very hard if not impossible to downgrade back to iOS 6.
iOS 7 is a lot more demanding than iOS 6.It uses a lot more processes to run due to the new features introduced into it. On the newer iPhone 5s and the iPad Air, iOS 7 will run fine and won't affect battery life too much, however with the older iPhone 4s and the iPod touch 5 iOS 7 will not run just as smoothly as on the newer Apple products.
The technology in iOS 7 has been built and optimized to run on the latest hardware in the newer line of Apple products and because of this the older hardware in the last generation of models can struggle to run it, and has to work even harder to. This will dramatically decrease your battery life and may also make your phone run a bit slower too.
iOS 7 isn't hugely different and many people say they don't like it anyway, so just stick with iOS 6, you aren't missing much.
IOS 7 is alot better but thats also because of the hardware design on 5C and 5S. If you have an older phone like iphone 4, I would just stick with it and in the future when you upgrade then you can get iOS 7 that way.
In my experience, for equivalent features, iOS 7 has slightly better battery life, at least on recent mobile devices. However, iOS 7 also has a lot of new features that didn't exist in iOS 6, and if you turn on all those features (and a few are on by default), the battery life might diminish slightly. Overall, I've had no problems with battery life going from 6 to 7.
