Does it seem to you society has lost its way?

I just feel a sense of sadness when I look around at what society is. It feels so empty what society expects from us. We go to school, work our hardest just to scrape by, and then we die. It doesn't seem like an ideal way to live. Not only that but it seems people are so caught up in the latest celebrity news, newest gadgets, or the latest fashion. Everyone seems to be conforming and gravitating towards the same exact ideas. I feel like authenticity and originality are missing in today's society. And with the advent of social media (which I admit I do use quite a lot) it seems we've lost touch of face to face communication. I like making plans with my friends in person or at least through a voice call but most seem to want to just text. I just wish life had more excitement to it than buying the newest iPhone or following the news about the Kardashians. Sometimes I feel that I'm just an old soul in a young body who should have been born decades earlier. So do you think society is heading in the wrong direction?

It never knew where it was going in the first place. We're the blind leading the blind.

No one is stopping you from meeting face to face with others. No one is stopping you from going to school. No one is stopping you from starting your own business. Sounds like you are just content to "scrape by".

Only the rich, powerful and beautiful get to enjoy life. The rest are just going through the motions. I see it in my family, the beautiful ones get married off young and fast, live in fancy houses with nice cars and pools and no one would dare to give them a wrong look or a cruel word. But when a person is not born with special qualities they just have to fight their way through life, its just a struggle.

Yes. People nowadays are unsympathetic, egoistical and fake. Being happy is now only for the wealthy. Commoners are misled by a fallacy. We're being fooled by the media and the government.
