Does iTunes report illegal music (copyright abuse)?

I recently updated my iPhone 4 to the new IOS 7… A few nights ago my kid downloaded music from the pirate bay and the next morning I got 8 emails, from my internet provider, advising me of copyright infringement and abuse from my IP address… The weird thing is, it says I did this on a CD I have from about 2 years ago and not the new download. A few hours later I tried to get on iTunes on my computer and as I did, iTunes froze for a few minutes and deleted the music I received the emails for. Is iTunes monitoring my music and reporting my activity? If so, iTunes has to go… And unfortunately my very nice iPhone 4 also… Love the phone, but I like my privacy more… Even if I should not have illegal music on my computer.

Comments please… I'd like to figure out what happened.

P.S. I do not subscribe to conspiracy theories, but It seems that the law is resorting to breaking the law to enforce it a lot lately… This could be a coincidence, but I don't like coincidences and it seems very unlikely for it to randomly happen.

It would be, in theory, a "trespass" to your computer data for iTunes to "look" at what you already had, let alone ""delete" any of it. Apple isn't going to do that; they have enough legal troubles. OTOH, if they were to do that, their entire business model for iTunes will almost instantly collapse.

ITunes can't determine where the music came from unless you purchased it off of iTunes

and actually, it doesn't matter if you own the CD of the content that was downloaded off of pirate bay. You have the CD you can transfer the CD on the computer. Pirate bay, it's still downloading it from sources who have no legal rights to supply it.

it's not iTunes monitoring your activity. It's the record labels who own the music that got downloaded - They are monitoring Pirate bay and it's users and sending those user's internet providers warnings

it's like this - The record labels can sue the internet provider for allowing it's customers to illegally download their music, so in return, Either your internet provider is gonna charge their lawsuit to your bill, or threaten to terminate your service

iTunes doesn't have to go. Pirate bay and what ever torrent program your kid is using - that has to go

  • Why do some people abuse the welfare system by? Spending the money to get their nails done and dinner at Ryan's but feed their kids ramen noodles while they have an iPhone 5c and a gucci bag? Should they have the children's needs met first? I'm 20 and this makes me a little angry. Welfare should only be for those that actually need it same with ebt and disability.
  • Someone just said my wife is irresponsible please tell should i abuse her? I want to gift a phone to my wife. we have 2.5 year son who often plays and drops her phone, i asked here should i buy iphone or android for my wife and someone replied you have irresponsible wife who allows kid to play with her phone?
  • Printing and selling iPhone cases - copyright issues? I'm looking in to setting up a small business involving printing iPhone cases. As a complete newbie to business and self-employment, does anyone know what copyright laws there would be attached to this? I would guess certain pictures / logos could not be used without the authorisation of whoever owns them. How could I find out whether something is copyrighted or free to use?
  • Is it illegal to put music on your iphone without buying it on itunes? I know you can put cds on there, but can you like drag a song into your itunes folder on your computer? (does that even make since?) I have a song I want to buy, but I'm like 20 cents short… So is it illegal to do that or not?
