Does sticky tape ruin a phone?

So I have a phone glass protector screen for my iphone se. There was a ton of dust on it so i put tape on the protector to take out the dust, and make it more sticky. I did the same with the phone. Was this a bad idea?

If you left the tape on it you should remove it. But if you took a stripe of tape, and used the sticky side to pick up the dust, then that's perfectly fine. Some screen protector manufacturers include a sticky dust remover so it is an effective way as well.

Yes

Maybe not so much a "bad" idea
as a "not so good" idea.

Isopropyl alcohol (90% or better, NOT 50% or 70%)
applied with a Q-Tip should safely dissolve the adhesive.

  • Will my cheap iPhone charger from Amazon ruin my phone? I just got an iPhone charger that wasn't apple brand on Amazon for cheap. People are telling me that it isn't going to work or it will eventually start to ruin my phone. I just recently got an iPhone 5 too so I have no interest in having to buy a new one because the charger is going to ruin it. Will the things people keep telling me really happen?
  • Is sticky lock on iPhone4s covered under warranty? I purchased my iPhone 4s from NTelos in October of last year (about 10 months ago). The phone has no other damage or issues other than a sticky lock button. Is a replacement or repair covered by the iPhone's 1 year warranty? If not, would my phone provider (NTelos) be able to repair or help me find someone who can?
