Does turning (4G) LTE off, on the iphone 5 disable 3g too?

Here in the UK, only certain networks have access to 4G and even then in very limited areas. I've read that turning off LTE in settings increases battery life as its not looking for a network that's not there. My question is, if this setting is turned off, does the iPhone still access the 3G network needed for location services and maps.etc?

Yes you can 4g is just a bonus and the problem between not having full 4g coverage is your phone will constantly be switching and youll lose service for a little while so turn it off and try it your 3 g will run all day and yes youll save battery 4 g is a huge batter hog

No it doesn't turn of 3g. Turning of LTE just lets you use the 3g speeds instead of 4g. And it DOES increase battery life. I wish I could turn of LTE for better battery, but my whole area has LTE so it's not worth it: P
