Dropped iPhone 4 now only works when plugged in, what's going on?

The phone only powers up when left plugged in now and the LED backlight flickers slightly. Can anyone help me?

From what you are describing, there are a couple of connections inside that have come loose or the drop has caused an intermittent short in a component / circuit board. Which is hard to tell, and you will likely need to return the phone for repair.

Sorry to say, I don't see any other solution here unless you are fairly skilled at electronics, own a good multimeter and know how to test and solder SMD (Surface Mount Device) technology components well. I hope this will help you get the situation corrected.

  • IPhone plugged in but battery is going down? My iPhone 4 was at 20% so I plugged it in. I checked on it and it was down to 3%. Now it's totally dead.
