Dropped iphone in water- think i can fake it to apple?

Hi! So i have an iphone 6s that has been pretty cracked for awhile now. Before being cracked, i dropped it in a 12 foot swimming pool for about 6 minutes (i know.) and it survived, functioned fine. Anyways, today i dropped it in the toilet. I panicked, dried it off, attempted to smack all the water out, but the cracks were holding it in. So i stuck it in rice. Its only been a few hours, but the Liquid Detector has gone off and its not responding at all. The phone seems dry, but its just not coming on. I'm going to wait longer, but in the case that its really a lose cause:

i can't really afford a new iphone, and liquids arent covered on the warranty. Since the phones been cracked for awhile, do you think i could play it like i cracked the phone and it stopped working? If they ask about water damage, i'm planning on saying that it got rain on it after it stopped responding. I know they can probably check this, but i really just don't want to lose my phone.

Cracks aren't covered in the original warranty either.

You're screwed.

Yes you can take it to Apple. And they'll happily replace your phone. AFTER you pay them for another phone.

Warranties don't cover carelessness and accidental damage. If you want that then you buy insurance or upgrade the standard AppleCare warranty to "AppleCare + For iPhone" which adds insurance to the warranty. They do insist on inspecting the iPhone thoroughly if you want to buy it after you've bought the iPhone.

To dissuade owners from claiming for silly little things all phone insurance policies have an insurance excess (US= insurance deductible), and in the UK that's typically between £100 and £150. So owners have to pay the excess and the insurers pay the rest; at the figure I've quoted that means most owners still have to pay for screen replacements themselves but if the phone is lost or stolen they get a replacement phone for just the cost of the excess. Some policies have a lower excess but as that increases the insurer's risk that sharply increases the cost of the insurance.

There's a water damage indicator inside the phone that changes color. As soon as they open it, they can see your phone has water damage.

The water damage indicator in the casing around the charger is clearly visible when you know what to look for, even without opening it

I think you should buy some paper and envelopes and use those till your old enough or more mature. So then maybe you can take care of a phone.
