Dropped my iphone in the toilet but light didn't come on?
I was at school and when I walked into the stall of the bathroom I put my notebook and phone on the toilet paper holder, but it came tumbling down almost right away and my phone fell in the (thankfully unused) toilet. I got it out probably 2 seconds later and started drying it off and blowing the water out of the crevices. It was still on and functioning, but I turned it off and took it to class. The guy that sits in front of me is a tech wiz and he told me to get it in a bag of rice and keep it off, so about 45 minutes later I went to the culinary room and got it in rice. The condensation around the back camera lense is completely gone, but it hasn't been turning on. The light on the back never came on and the red water damage tabs are showing very faintly. I know that some iphones have a feature that keeps you from turning it on unless you plug it in, but I don't want it to short circuit by plugging it in. I plan on keeping it in the rice for the next couple of days, but is there anything else I should know? Especially: Is it good or bad that the back light didn't come on? (It's a 4s and I had a decent case on it when it fell in.)
Unscrew the iphone, pull off the iphones screen with a suction cup: use that tutorial until you get to the part where it starts taking the lcd off the actual glass, you don't need to do that or anything else.see if the inside is damaged by water, get a blowdryer and dry the inside of the phone, then use the tutorial in reverse to reassemble the phone, then plug it into the charger and see if it turns on, makes a sound, or vibrates, if it does that and the screen itself won't turn on its an lcd issue. If not then the phone maybe water damaged, and you may need to take it to a shop.
Leave the phone off for another 3-4 days and don't try to charge it. If it still does not turn on connect it to a computer to see if it will recognize it. If it doesn't the phone is ruined and will have to be replaced.
