Earphone problem with Iphone 4s?

About a month ago I was jogging while listening to music on my iPhone 4s, and the left earphone started sounding horrible. I was using Kicker brand ear buds (they aren't a cheap brand), and I decided since I had them for three years it was just their time. I had a second pair at home, but had the same problem. I then bought two more pairs of the same ear buds and had the same problem. I just tried the headphones with my laptop, and it turns out they work perfectly, so the issue is my phone. The issue always is with the left ear bud. Does anyone know what the problem could be, and if it is fixable?

It is fixable but you need a new piece that the the jack goes into. You can honestly do it yourself. I dud it before, but not for iphone. https://www.ifixit.com/...ement/3611

The socket is DIRTY. Get some fat pipecleaners ( sold as *fuzzy sticks* sometimes - must be the originals are copyrighted) and SLIGHTLY dampen one end with alcohol. Wipe out the port as if you were cleaning a baby's ear. You will not see any dirt of dust, but it will be gone. Also clean the PLUG. I have rescued countless earbuds and headphones over my career like this - it does not take much for a little dust to mess things up. If these never played in ANY device, that would be one thing - but if All earbuds play the same way in ONE device - it is the device, and unless it is damaged, etc. Cleaning should help. I also use those tiny "ear vacuums" you see for ten bucks on TV - they are not strong enough to clean my keyboard, but I use them on sockets - not sure if they help or not, but at least i think I'm taking SOME dirt out.

  • Why does only one earphone in my iPhone work? I've had my iPhone 4 for about a year and a half now. When i got it all earphones worked, now only one works and same with speakers and docks. At first i thought i had blown my earphones but they work in everything else just not my phone.
  • Which is best? Sennheiser MX375 or Apple iPhone 4/4S Earphone? I need a comparison about Sennheiser MX375 and iPhone 4/4S earphone. the pros and cons about those earphone. About the sound they produce, the bass, treble, and clarity of the sound in every single genre of music. I need your help, audiophile!
  • What happens if you get water in iPhone 5 earphone port? I got water in my earphones and one earpiece became softer than the other so I got new ones. The new ones MIGHT have a similar problem so I'm wondering if I got water in the iPhone's earphone jack but I don't know if I'm just being paranoid or not and am merely hearing what I'm most afraid of. So what exactly will happen if water got in my earphone jack?
  • No sound out of my iPhone 4s after broken earpiece lodged into earphone hole Ohkay. So I was at my neighbors house a couple weeks ago & one of their younger cousins took my iPhone 4s off the counter & tried to put a mini speaker in it. When she took the speakers back out, the part you insert in the iPhone broke off into my phone. I can't get it out so it won't play any music/sound out of my iPhone. What do I do? Is there any way that I can get it out? I have tried a lot & nothing seems to work.
