Ebay - mail item or eat final value and listing fee?
I sold a cell phone case for an iPhone 5/5s. Some idiot bid, and won and then messaged me saying they have an iPhone 5c. I opened a case to cancel the transaction so I don't have to pay the listing and final value fees and this person is ignoring me and will not accept the close.
I can't figure out how to close the open case I have now and not seeing an option for that in the help pages on ebay…
Also, I'm not sure if I should just mail the item, because someone else's stupidity is not my problem… Or if I should just refund them in Paypal and email the final value and listing fees on Ebay and sell it again to someone who can actually use the case.
Added (1). I'm new to Ebay and thought i'd give it a shot, but am not impressed at this point. Does this kind of thing happen a lot?

Welcome to eBay. Your problem is that you're selling an accessory for a gadget that attracts a lot of children, none of whom can read an auction or think. Although children are prohibited from using both eBay and Paypal, it seems their #3 desire after texting their friends and playing video games is buying and selling items on eBay, even though the pathetic brats don't even know what a Post Office is (because they don't have Post Offices in video games).
I would strongly advise you not to relist, and if you want to sell on eBay, find items that children do not want. I personally sell women's clothing that appeals to trendy middle-aged women, and I almost never have problems like this. My buyers have real lives.
As for your immediate situation, if the buyer doesn't respond to your transaction cancellation request within 7 days, you can close the case and you'll receive a final value fee credit.
Do NOT mail the item unless the buyer pays for it.
Better luck next time!
- Was getting an iPhone XR ($750) value for free while paying full price for an XS Max ($1100) value a good deal? Considering my mom did this just last week before the iPhone 11 was announced today was this a good deal, I know the value of both these phones will go down but she liked getting the free phone for my sister.
- Item I've order has been MC999 eBay Listing Removed what will happen? I've order an iphone case about a week ago and I live in Australia and its being sent from Hong Kong. It is marked as posted and I'm not sure what's gonna happen after this, will it be returned or will it get here and the transaction has already gone through meaning I've bought it already.
- I'm thinking of listing an iphone on ebay? Its a one week old verizon 8GB black iphone4. 0 scratches, HD screen protector on it, and comes with 2 cases. How much do you think I could get for it if I listed it as an auction? Btw it has clean esn I want atleast $200 for it for everything listed. Fair?
- I was curious if someone purchased an item but when the item was delivered no payment was received, is this illegal? Thanks for opening my question, I'm curious because I used an app called letgo and sold an iPhone 7 plus for $300. I agreed with the buyer if he showed proof of sending money via moneygram he agreed he would tell me the reference number after it delivered to him. Well it delivered and I have no contact. I have his address, if I report this too the police will they prosecute it?
