Failed the Private Pilot Written exam?
I failed the private pilot written exam with a rather low score. Turned out I was not allowed to use my iphone app as an e6b calculator. Had to use a manual one which I was totally unfamiliar with.
How big of a deal is this if I eventually want to become a commercial pilot? I'll make sure I pass the next time, but will failing the written once the first time make it hard to get a job?
Sounds like you need to study like crazy and get a perfect score every time to prove yourself.
It won't make the slightest difference.
Next time, study one of the Gleim books! They have every single question and every single answer to any FAA knowledge test (written test) out there. They are great!
That seems like something that a person who was prepared would have know about going into the exam.
Potential employers do not have access to your grades, previously failing the written exam will never prevent you from getting a job.
IF this was a FAA knowledge exam, there's a E6b on the computer ( as part of the test software) you used to take the test. Also know… If you want, you can use an electronic E6b, you just have to clear the memory in the presence of the proctor before beginning the test. You might(do) need to study other area's as well if you scored low as there are not that many questions you would have been required to answer requiring the use of the flight computer.
It's not that big of a deal as long as this is the ONLY written test you ever fail. Same thing with flight tests. It's a black mark against you, but forgivable the first time around. If you fail more than one of either a flight or written test, it establishes a strong indicator that you are not airline material or likely to succeed in the training all airlines are required to give new-hires. All written test and flight test failures are on your permanent record for life. You will be asked about failures on applications and in most interviews.airlines will double-check. If you lie about it, end of interview. FACT.
1) The pressure is now on. Don't screw up again.
2) Learn to use a real, manual E-6B and how to do all calculations longhand. Those who overly rely on electronic crutches are courting trouble.
3) I've taught private pilot ground school to hundreds of people. I never had one fail a written test before. Not one. Either you had a lousy instructor or you self-studied, or you have lousy study and memorization skills. Or a combination there-of.
4) It's time to adopt a professional mind-set. A professional pilot leaves NOTHING to chance. Success is in the thoroughness of preparation. It can mean the difference between life and death, or at least between being employable and not being a viable candidate.
5) The PP written is EASY. Perhaps you should change your user-name to student pilot or F. O. Wannabe until you actually become a first officer.
- Why is 'Sprint' written in ebay descriptions of iphones? What's Sprint? I'm looking to buy a new iphone and the majority of the ones on ebay have "sprint" written in their title description. What does this mean? Is it a mobile carrier or something? Like a version of Telstra? Thanks in advance! Oh, and what's "Verizon" as well? Are these iPhone's still reliable?
