Why can I almost never find things I've lost?

Maybe I'm just forgetful and don't remember where I've put things, but sometimes it gets ridiculous. One time I lost my charger for my iPhone. I knew it was somewhere in my living room. I looked for at least 15 minutes near every outlet, in every drawer, on the bookcase, near the TV, nothing. And I kid you not, my mother comes to help and literally finds it in 5 seconds, on the sofa. Not like in between cushions, just sitting on the middle cushion. I swore it wasn't there before, but I guess it was? I mean, am I blind? I don't know if this story really matters, but its just an example of me not knowing where anything is. Honestly, i'm not even sure if there's a way to solve my problem. But if there's any way anybody can help its appreciated.

I sort of get that to, but not as much as you I don't think, I'd be looking for something for ages, walk out of the room then walk back in and it'd just be right in the open. It normally happens when I'm doing work or something so I'm quite stressed, maybe that's got something to do with it?
