Fired for being wrongly accused of planning to steal?
I started my new job on monday with an agency that involves handling and packing the latest apple products and i was sent there by the job centre.
Everything was going well until thursday, i had asked fellow employees why the security was so strict out of curiosity and they told me its because they have had lots of people steal the apple products in the past, this conversation continued with the fellow employee into our lunch break and into the toilets where we both needed to go…
whilst in the toilets the fellow employee told me he has his car checked and i replied "i don't understand why they would check your car? There no possible way anyone could steal from the building anyway and what did they expect to find? 500 iphones on your backseat haha" as a sort of joke…
Little did i know a supervisor was in one of the cubicles listening in on our private conversation.
an hour later me and the other employee were working away and were approached by our agency manager and team leader and they said "we have had reports that you are planning to steal therefore we want you to leave now", although i did not once say anything about stealing and i do not have a criminal record at all.
Me and the other employee were then searched and thrown off site.
I do not want my job back but is there anything i can do about this?
also will this to affect me in future jobs?
If it was a temporary job, or a probationary period, the company are legally allowed to dismiss you for no reason.
What I would recommend is putting in writing your position to the agency, so that they have it on record as perhaps a misunderstanding.
This sounds unfair as you haven't actually committed an offence, but as you were temporary they can do this, and yes it'll affect your chances of getting jobs and even benefits in the future. You should talk to someone in the job centre about this. And in future… Be careful what you discuss with people that you don't know.
You're packing Apple products and you don't understand why security is so tight?
Really? That's difficult to believe.
If you're complaining about security, I'd fire you too. You would too if you were in charge. Especially when you've had thousands of dollars stolen out of your pocket.
Ofcourse you have good grounds to sue the company and get thousands of pounds in compensation. If you only spoke what you have said above there's nothing wrong with it and if you go to Industrial Tribunal they will make sure you get thousands of pounds in compensation. But if you were actually plotting to steal and your conversation was very different from what you describe above, you will get nothing but grief and no reference.
- Why is my iPhone number being displayed wrongly on my number? My number is X, but on "my number" settings, it's being displayed number Y. Why is that? Also, some people told me that when I call or text them, the number Y is appearing to them, not the number X as it should. On the other hand, if I call the number X, my iPhone rings normally, but the same thing doesn't happen when I call number Y.
