Found an iPhone 5 while I was in Taiwan?
I recently took a trip to Taiwan and found an iPhone 5 on the high speed rail. I left it on waiting for the owner to call, but they never did. So now I'm back in the states with a dead iPhone 5. Would love to use it, but wondering what other options I have. Or is it even possible to use here in the states.
Ah, you could have called one of the contacts in the phone and ask for more info of the owner, or perhaps check their facebook app, etc.
If the phone uses SIM, you should be able to replace the SIM card with any US providers that uses SIM. If the phone is CDMA based (like Sprint, ATT, Verizon) then you have to unlock it, which is a complicated process.
I seriously doubt the iPhone 5 has a sim card. You simply need to unlock it so you can register with a US provider.
If that doesn't work, at least you have a new ipod!
The best and only honest option is to return the phone to the Lost & Found on the High Speed Rail. Anything less is stealing.
The offices of the HSR are all linked so you can send the iPhone to Taichung and the offices in Taipei, Kaoshiung and Tainan would know about it. Do the right thing and return the phone to the to whom it belongs.
The address for the Taichung HSR office is: No. 8, 2nd Rd, Wuri District, Taichung City, Taiwan 414
Ask yourself how you would feel if you knew someone found your phone and decided to keep it. Would you feel happy? Would you feel that person was good at heart and wants to do the right thing? Be a good representative of the United States and return the phone.
It's a common practice in Taiwan that you turn in the iPhone you found to the police or the info booth at the station.
Please mail it back to Taiwan high speed rail, so they can return it to its rightful owner.

- I found an iPhone 5 while snorkeling in the Lake. What should I do with it? There's a local tie-up at the lake and some friends and I went snorkeling to see what kind of treasures we could find. Typically it amounts to beer cans and sunglasses, but this time I found an iPhone 5. It was in a lifeproof case, but water did get inside. I dried it out for a few days, and somehow it comes on. The screen is kind of blurry from water damage and home button does not work. Suggestions on what I should do with it?
