What iPhone case should I use?

I asked this once before but the responses weren't what I wanted. I have a white iPhone 5s, should I use a clear plastic case which slightly raises above the screen, or a black metal case which doesn't cover the screen? Which one and why.

A case with a rim to protect the screen is helpful for a drop into a flat hard surface. No rim allows the screen to hit any hard flat surface.

So the question to you is, are you getting a case for looks or protection?

If looks go for the clear case. If for protection get a case with screen and edge shock protection. Just know that protection is going to cost money, may have a few color options and tends to add a little bulk to the phone. Looks will be cheap $5 to $20 dollar range and offers little to no protection as more often than not, the cheaper case tend break, after the first drop.

This is personal preference, which explains why you're not getting answers you want.

A clear rubber or silicone one. They are better at absorbing shock when you drop them and will better protect your iPhone. Plus then you will be able to see your iPhone.

  • Which iPhone case should I use? I have 2 cases, one is a clear plastic one, and the other is a black, metal tortoise case. The plastic one is raised slightly above the screen which is good for if you drop it, and is clear so you can see the back. But the black metal one gives you that nice cool feeling when you pick it up and isn't raised, meaning it doesn't protect the screen in any way. Which one should I use?
  • Which 3D printing material should I use for an impact resistant iPhone case? I hate Otterbox cases because they expose the area on the back where the Apple logo is. I will instead engrave the Apple logo into the case and paint it shiny silver after it was printed
  • When designing an iPhone 4S case, what dimensions should I use? I'm going to use a custom iPhone case like CaseApp or Zazzle and I was wondering how big the image I create will need to be. What dimensions should I use?
  • What paint should I use to customise an iPhone for case? I want to paint the Incredible Hulk on an iPhone case for my older brother for Christmas, but what paint should I use? I've used acrylics before to paint my PS2, but it scratches off so easily and this is something I want to last. Any suggestions or other options I can use?
