Head Unit Buying Help! Advice on car stereo upgrade?

I'm looking for a after market head unit for my car. It is a Volvo Xc90 2003 to give you more info. I'm a First time buyer and installer. I will also have to put a amplifier bypass harness because its a Volvo (stupid Fiber optic system. Looked for any aux adapter for my car but into the 300 and not wanting to spend that on just a aux adapter I will be installing it myself, don't worry my dads a tech for volvo so he can help.

Some info on what In looking for:
Cost; up to 100- because i don't want and don't have thousands to spend on this
Singe din pin- those look like the best cost for what i will be getting but if you think double din is better let me know and why
Audio sources- be able to play my iPod or iPhone (thats mostly the only reason why i'm getting this, Cd player would be nice but doesn't have to.
Audio Output- 4 speaker level output because i will have to put a amplifier bypass harness to connect to the speakers, Can't be just RCA outputs, or that what I have seen in some while I was looking. But One RCA pre amp for a Sub would be nice, I have subs coming of the back speaker already so its no problem but it would be nice.
Bluetooth- Maybe if its a good all around stereo or you thinks it better
Touch screen- Hell yeah! But maybe a flip up one in a single din pin. Or should I just go double din?

Please just give advice. Give a product or brand and explain why. I'm new at this and need help and advice.

The price you're willing to pay is a huge factor. Higher brand names generally cost more as well as functionality. If you want a low cost system, just for a minor general upgrade, Dual (brand) stereos are a good choice. If you're looking for some subs and nice speakers with a little boom, JVC. Competition status, you're gonna spend a pretty penny but Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony. Stay away from low end stuff, especially Pyle. Find an installer, if you don't do it yourself, that is competent. An incompetent installer is definitely bound to mess things up. I suggest with a long term business and a great track record.

  • Will this Pioneer head unit fit in my 2005 Honda Civic EX? I just bought a 2005 Honda Civic EX as my first car and wanted to get a better set up where I could hook my iPhone up to. I was looking at this Pioneer head unit and was wondering if it would fit in the car. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-X6500BT If it would fit, how much would it cost to install? I'm 16 and can't install it myself unfortunately, so I would need to pay somebody to do it.
  • Will an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 work on an Alpine iDA-X305S head unit? I own an Alpine iDA-X305S head unit which is iPod/iPhone compatible, it allows me to control the music (and Pandora internet radio) from the unit. I'm looking forward to upgrade my iPhone with iOS7, but I would like to know if there's some kind of compatibility issue with the head unit and this new OS. Since the unit doesn't have a CD playback, losing compatibility with the head unit would practically leave me with FM and USB flash drive capabilities in my car.
