Headphone jack on my iPhone 6 destroying any headphones plugged into it?

I have an iPhone 6 and it's in well condition, but I have only 1 MAJOR problem. Any time I plug in any type of headphones one ear will stop putting out audio. After a while BOTH ears will stop putting out sound. I have to twist the headphone cord just the right way to have sound in one ear. The headphones themselves are in really good conditions. I had 2 $100 headphones stop working entirely by my phone's headphone jack. One of which was only 2 months out of the box. If I plug the headphones into anything else they still don't work. I know I'm taking good care and I would like to know how can I fix this problem? I don't want to have to get a whole new phone and I'm not very good with repairing. I've cleaned out the headphone jack and nothing's working.

So do the headphones work on other devices? I have hard time believing the phone breaks them. You haven't been careful enough with the jack.

Send the phone for repair and stop whining

Mini-jack plug connectors are not really very robust. It sounds like there's a problem with the socket on your iPhone and that twisting the cable/moving the plug around allows contact to be made and for the 'phones to work again. The problem is that doing this seems to break the cable and stop the 'phones from working at all. Cutting the mini-jack plug off with an inch of cable and soldering on a new plug will probably repair the "phones.

It sounds like the real problem is woth the iPhone socket though.

Maybe you headphone port is out of work. You can try to replace it yourself

  • Why is my iPhone 5c destroying chargers? My first charger stopped working after a few weeks of having my phone and I thought it was just a faulty cord, so I got a new one. Then that one stopped working and a third one is also finished. I don't understand what is causing this. Is something wrong with my phone and can it be fixed?
  • Why does my iPhone 5s have no sound when plugged into headphones? I have tried all of my head phones and still no sound. It works fine when you take the headphones out.
  • Somehow, a huge piece of the headphone jack got stuck in the headphone port, and I can't find any I think the headphone type is just a normal iPhone headphone. So ground, audio, mic and some of the plastic, or whatever it is, around it, got stuck in there, and it's not super deep, probably because it's almost the whole headphone jack, but it's still in there. Someone please help! I can't find anything! It's just the headphone jack tip that got stuck for everyone else! It's a laptop.
  • Should I fix my iPhone headphone jack or buy Bluetooth headphones? I have an iPhone 3GS that has a broken headphone jack so I can only get volume out of one side. Should I get this fixed or should I buy bluetooth/wireless headphones. The repair costs $60 and most wireless headphones are at least $100. Would it be worth the money for good headphones rather than the repair. I have only used cheap $20 headphones before. Any links to good Bluetooth headphones at a decent price would be appreciated
