Help my iPhone is so damn slow after updating to ios8?

Ok I THOUGHT ios 8 wouldn't ruin my iphone 5 because usually Apple only screws with the last model compatible with ios8 (which in this case is the iphpne 4s). On ios7 my phone was zippy and fast and now its lagging when I open apps and just doesn't feel as smooth as before.

Any way to fix this?

This is why you don't update right away, you always wait several weeks. I think iOS 7 was slow also at first until they did more patches
