Help! Online dating scam?

I have an older friend that i know is being scammed i'm just not sure how its going to happen. Today he was sent an Iphone 7 that is for her. The address had a random name. She also sent him flowers from a random name a few weeks ago. They were for his birthday when it wasn't even his birthday she just told him to take them. But she's been wanting this phone forever. He said her "aunt" from africa contacted him and told him that she is going to send him the phone as a surprise for her. She's been telling him she wants to visit soon. And after giving him a bunch of crazy prices and some story about how she had to take a taxi to the nearest airport. He decided to just buy her a ticket himself. So now she will supposedly be here in a few weeks and this phone has arrived today and since he wasn't home i signed for it. It says 2 day shipping and some random name with our address. (but she sent this phone weeks ago?)

I have other friends that have been scammed and i myself have ran into a few. But they usually ask for western union eventually and this lady has not.

but her picture a clearly fake and she has no online social media accounts. Or any trace of her name on google.

Does anyone have any insight?

Reading through here or even posting asking for tips on how to flip the scam to scam the scammer may get some help. But, most of all he needs to stop before he loses a lot of money.

So a lonely, desperate, naive person, who thinks that online chatting is 'dating' and is vulnerable to 'sweet talk' and doesn't have an sense or logic… Older that you yet not wiser. And unless they realise themselves they are going to be taking no notice of you at all and the more you say the more they will dig in as they do not want to lose the attention even if it is the wrong type of attention.

That is very strange… It is odd for the scammer to be sending the scam-my presents and expensive items like iphones. But it is strange all together… Take that fake picture of her and save it to your computer.go to google images and search using that image… See what comes up

At some point the person is going to ask for money but in the meantime all contact should be cut off and any further "gifts" not accepted.

Tell your friend to take this iPhone to the nearest Apple Store if possible to see if they can track down who owns the phone by tracing the phone's unique serial number. If your friend can't do that then he should really file a report with the local police department.

Contact your local police or FBI Field Office and tell them that you know of a "vulnerable" individual who is the victim of a Nigerian scam and refuses to listen to anyone. Say that you are worried he is going to lose his home
If he has any family, have them go to court to get conssrvatorship over his finances so he can't send money or even buy expensive items like a new iPhone

Your friend is being groomed for a Nigerian scam. Someone will discover that he is owed some huge sum of bent money from some pest hole in Africa… Then we're off to the races if he responds.

There's no woman involved, not even a fake one. It's a guy. Block the address, stop responding, and turn it into the police, because it definitely has the location tracked to within 80 feet. The camera is almost 100% active too, they can see through the lens. Get that phone to the cops!

As soon as possible, because you don't want that original location tracked. Get it out of your house!

  • What's a good dating site or app? Is their an app like tinder i can get on my windows pc (i can't get tinder cus i don't have an iphone)
  • What are good virtual dating games for iPhone? I like the bad girl games, surviving high school, and the sims 3. What are some good iPhone games where you date and choose between guys? BTW I hate those games where you have to keep buying diamonds to do things like Modern Girl, I will pay once like with sims but not continuously.
  • Most online dating sites are a scam because they are usually run by fraudsters who work in call centres. True or false? Fraudsters who work in the call centres would use photographs of women to entice unsuspecting people and tell them what they want to hear, which is a money spinner. But people who are gullible enough to subscribe are usually disappointed because the fraudsters are usually men instead of women, but they have no romantic design whatsoever. These iPhone dating apps are mostly a scam, which is a complete waste of time and money. True or false?
