Horrible iPhone 5 Battery Life?

I bought an iPhone 5 last week and have noticed that the battery drain EXTREMELY quickly. My mom got the 4S the same day and she can get through the whole day on one charge while I have to charge it like twice a day. I had it fully charged and used it for about a half hour only texting and the battery went fromm 100% to 80%. I also listened to music today and the battery dropped about 40 more percent. I have already tried resetting the settings multiple times. Does this happen to anybody else? Apple needs to step it up because this may be my last iPhone…

It's an iPhone. What were you expecting, a miracle?

All phones are different i actaully traded my iphone5 for the galaxy s3 and the battery dies out faster then the iphone make sure you exit all the apps by holding the hold button those apps take alot of battery and alot of people don't know about those apps they think just leaving it its not running anymore.

I got the iphone 5 also and i just need to charge it once a day or i could go without charge and it lasts until like 9 pm. I have location services off, i also try using Wi-Fi whenever possible and kill all apps after you use them. If i'm done with facebook i just double tap the home button then hold the app and you could kill it, stops from using when not using it. Also a critical thing is the brightness i have mine a little less that half way because that kills it fast.

So you used it half hour constantly with the screen on and it dropped 20%? Lol… Of course its going to drop constantly having the screen like that. You are living in fantasy land if you think a phone is going to have the screen on all day without charging it.

You need to go back to you're provider and ask them to deal with this before you're locked in. (Usually 14 days with a max of talk time.)

My husband just got one and his drains about 85% of battery using it for a few short calls and a few texts in about 8 hours. (so %15 battery remaining before the work day is over) He has Wi-Fi off, bluetooth off and GPS off.

After lots of googling we understand there may be a bug in iOS6.0.2 relating to battery use under some conditions (which therefore could be fixed soon). We also have read that on occasion a phone ships with a defective battery.

Tomorrow we're going back to see what the store can do. If there's some magic setting we haven't found yet, I'll update this post here.

He was used to charging his blackberry with similar usage every 3 or 4 days! So having to charge overnight + twice a day is a big shock.

My battery drops about 1% a minute… That's about the rate it takes to charge! It is supposedly an issue with the new iOS 6.02 patch that was supposed to fix poor Wi-Fi performance in 6.01.

The fix is actually to restore your iPhone and start over. I've talked to people have done it and have had no issues.
