House sitting! Should I ask for their Wi-Fi password?

I'm house sitting for the next 8 days and have a bunch of animals and plants to take care of. However, before they left I forgot to ask for the Wi-Fi password. The homeowner is an acquaintance of my mom and I have been sending picture and text updates of the animals as she requested. However, I'm fairly bored and would enjoy being able to get on the internet. Could I text asking if there's any way I could have the password just to surf the web? Should I tell her I'm not going to give it out or have anyone else over? Since I have an iPhone I'd like to be able to turn my 3G off as well.

Shouldn't be a problem asking them. They can always change it when they get home to another password. I would certainly not have a problem with you using my Internet if you were house sitting.

Have you looked at the router to see if the password is on it?

Sure, ask

no need to give assurances of not sharing it

though

if you have found the router

have a look underneath, just as likely the password is there

I'd think that anyone who trusted you to be in their house alone would be glad to give you the password. I would. Ask her with exactly the details that you stated above. She won't be offended.
