How do apps on my iPhone show me apps based off of my searches on chrome and safari?

I've noticed a lot of apps on my phone like Instagram and the Reddit app have been showing me advertisements that are similar/ exactly the same to what I've been searching on my browser. I use safari and chrome as my browsers on my iphone. Recently I have been using chrome more. Why is this happening and how can it be prevented?

  • My Iphone is not letting me access the internet or internet based apps? I have an Iphone 5. Never had any issues but now it won't connect to the internet or any apps. It does the same thing it does when I have no service (just has that little circle symbol that means it's trying to get through). Orginally, I thought it must be a universal problem but everyone else has service and they are in the same location as me. Also I always use my phone here with no problems. I have tried turning it off and on again but nothing.
  • Is it possible someone can see my safari searches on their device? For some reason not long after I have searched something in my safari iPhone browser my friends mention something to me that is pretty much what i've searched. I may be paranoid but i'm wondering if there's anyway possible that i'm connected to one of their devices and they can see my browser searches etc.
