How do eBay sellers from places like HongKong & China make profit?

They sell things so cheap.

I just bought 2 iPhone stylus' for $1 and postage is free. Coz I'm in the UK that converts as about 75p which is unimaginably cheap. How do they make profit by also sending it for free?

Added (1). They have a rating of over 150, 000 and 99.8% positive feedback score and all of their items are very cheap. I don't care if I don't receive it but it's just odd.

They probably won't send anything. To pay 75p and get nothing doesn't sound too bad but if they doing it to hundreds or thousands of people they make a tidy sum

It could be a cheap knockoff or factory seconds that were rejected by quality control, otherwise they buys thousands of one item and are more about the quantity sold than the quality

it happens here sometimes not as drastic but online companies will sell some of the same product my showroom does & they sell it for 50% less, they have no overhead and only put a small markup on it

what you gain buying local is an actual human that speaks your native language, seeing the product before you buy it, and customer service if you have any questions or problems

Because it costs them 10c to make an iPhone stylus (its just a piece of plastic after all) and so they will make 90c profit. Postage will cost them 50c so they will still make 40c on every sale. The stylus you get will probably break within a couple of months.

What they do is that they send about a thousand of these to some Chinese relative in the US, and it is this relative who will ship it to you locally in an ordinary envelope to save on postage. The stylus won't come from China.

I have bought things from all sorts of HongKong and China people. Anything from cheap cellphones to cheap MP3 players to cheap GPS attachments. Trust me they won't last you long as I have had my items break in about a week or 2 of using them. I have no clue how they make money cause some of the stuff is like dirt cheap sold to the US and shipping is free which I know shipping is not free for them even though they offer it. I'm starting to think they don't make money off much stuff. Not sure how they could make anything.

  • Multiple packages from different sellers from Amazon? I recently got an iPhone, so I ordered some cases and screen protectors from Amazon. Each thing all came from different sellers. Two of the orders are from USPS on different dates, so I should be fine there. The rest of the 5 packages are going to be delivered by Fedex Smartpost around the same dates. So, I was wondering, will they just give me all those packages at once when they deliver them if they all are able to be delivered on the same day?
