How do I increase personal hotspot speeds?
I'm using my iPhone with unlimited hotspot to provide internet to my PS4. Sometimes it works really well and most of the time it is horrible. I'm getting 5 bars LTE signal and I never used to have slow download speeds. Is there a device or trick to increase my hotspot signal?

Your provider is throttling you. They can detect that you are running hotspot and therefore using a LOT of their product - so they dial back the speed. If in your home, and you have have a dual-speed modem/router (2.4 and 5) then force it to go to 5 (shut off the 2.4). In my house, the 5 is of course faster - but does not always reach where I want to plop down. We all make choices. There are a few companies that advertise that they do NOT throttle - see if you can find any that service your area. We changed out iPhones to Consumer Cellular, and get a TON more service for FAR FAR less $$ than ATT - and we're never throttled. Disclaimer - I never use a hotspot in my house, and seldom when away, unless I'm running HAZMAT level digital protection. I even run Secure Me (Avast) in airports, etc., because they are SO rife with thieves. IF YOU are running a VPN or a lot of protection, it might be slowing you down SOME -but not to the extent that you indicate.
- Will I be able to use my mobile as a personal hotspot? I'm with optus and have unlimited internet… Just wondering if personal hotspot will work on my iphone? Its not coming up on my phone it's just saying carrier, bluetooth etcetera. Please only people from australia. ps I only just set up my prepaid plan but its working fine on my phone?
- What additional cost may occur from making my iphone a personal hotspot? I turned on the personal hotspot option in settings on my iphone but it says additional costs may occur. Does that mean it costs money for me to connect my other devices or just if i exceed the amount of 3g i'm paying for.
- Is the personal hotspot option on the iphone safe? I just learned i can use my iphone as a hotpot and i freaked out! Apparently you go settings, general, network, the it says personal hotspot! So is it safe? More importantly does it cost a lot or free?

I'm new to this whole personal hotspot thing but I do have some information that I know like how it acts like a personal router to other devices such as Xbox, ipod, computer, etc. The only questions that I don't know are the ones below. -would it make my iPhone 4S much faster? -does it cost money to get it and if so how much? Oh i'm on sprint btw!
