It is the worst time to buy an iPhone.
iPhone 8 is going to be launched next month and it is the tenth anniversary of Apple's most successful product line, so they are probably planning to make the iPhone 8 really impressive. All the leaks suggest that it is going to be considerably different from the current iPhones.
I suggest waiting for a month or two rather than get your latest and greatest iPhone become obsolete just after you buy it. Also, in case you do not care about the latest one, then still you will get a huge discount on older models when the iphone 8 comes out.
Whoever is buying it, tell them that you want to spend money wisely and that you want your gift later on.
