How do I protect my information when using someone else's Wi-Fi?

I'm moving in with roommates and I will be using their Wi-Fi. I currently use an apple Mac air an iPhone and a galaxy tablet. Sometimes old cell phones if I need to.

You can turn off your file sharing (I'm not sure if Macs have it off by default) on your Mac. If you really want, you can use a VPN service, to encrypt your information over the Internet and network. However, they tend to slow down your connection depending on the server you're connecting to.

Private mode on your browser

Use a VPN.

  • What is the information that I need to know about using my AT&T iPhone out of the country? I have AT&T. I have an iPhone. I'm going to Cabo San Lucas through July 1st-July 5th. I want to use my cell phone to take pictures and post Facebook/Instagram updates, without getting charged for international rates. Suggestions? Like turning off data or using Wi-Fi or using airplane mode.

  • Using someone else's upgrade? (Verizon)? My mom has Verizon and is eligible for an upgrade. I'm not on her plan nor do i even have verizon. Is it possible to order an iphone (iphone 4s or 5, haven't decided) using her upgrade but transfer that phone to me?
  • Using someone else s old iPhone? I currently have an iPhone 5. My sister has a 6 currently but she had a 5s that isn't used and while I'm due for an upgrade IIm holding off for another month and a half until the next iPhone comes out. Is it possible to just put my SIM card in her old phone and use that or is it more complicated? Like do I have to go to the apple or Verizon store (my cell carrier) to do this or can I just do this on my own?
