How to recover photos that disappeared from my Camera+ app Lightbox on iPhone 3GS?

I had 250+ photos in my Camera+ Lightbox on my iPhone 3GS. I hadn't saved them yet so they didn't appear in my Camera Roll. One day those photos disappeared from the Lightbox, and the app itself is messed up. Any new photos I take with Camera+ don't show up in its Lightbox.

Is there any way to recover those 250+ photos that disappeared from the lightbox?

I have a feeling the photos are still there physically in the storage, I just can't access them. When I explore the iPhone's contents through Windows explorer, I only see the Camera Roll photos, not the lightbox ones, but they might still be sitting there somewhere, hidden?
