How to switch off 3G on a iPhone?
I'm just looking for a bit of help or assistance.
I have the iPhone 4 on the orange network and I'm trying to figure out how to switch off 3G. I have gone to settings, then to general and then to carrier. However, I can't find enable 3G to on or off.
If I can't do this, please could someone tell me if when I go to Wi-Fi in my settings, when I click on and go to my network for my home Internet, am I being charged by orange? I ask this because
when I signed up, I signed for 500mb in my allowance plan (600 mins criss network abd 300 texts) which was charged at £36. I don't use all my mins or my texts but I do use the Internet on my phone, primarily at home. I just wonder why my bill is £52+ a month if I'm using my home Internet?
Just to add the 3G symbol stays on all the time in the top left hand of the screen and this is what confuses me.
I hope my question made some sense - I hope someone could help me on this
3g is what links your phone to Orange to make calls, send texts, etc. To stop using your mobile data, you need to switch off the mobile data switch, which is in the settings/general/network, or settings/general/carrier section of the phone. Switch off the data switch, and you will only be using your wi-fi - the phone can't connect to the Orange data, so can't charge you for using the data. If you want to use the data again, for example, you are out and about; away from your wi-fi network, simply go to settings/data/network or settings/data/carrier and turn the data back on again.
Also, when you are out and about, make use of wi-fi hotspots, such as those found in pubs, cafes, etc. Most of these are free, and will have signs saying so. If they are chargeable, then a fee table will appear on the iphone, eg, £5 for 1 hour, £10 for 3 hours, etc. These figures are just examples; they may not be the actual prices charged.
- Would I be able to switch carriers without having to switch phones? I'm with Consumer Cellular and I have an iPhone SE, but I'm thinking of switching carriers so that I can get unlimited data. I don't want to get a new phone because I've had my current one about six months, I really like it, and it works great. I'm not locked into a contract with Consumer Cellular. Would I be able to switch to another carrier without having to purchase a new phone?
