How do orange contracts work?

I've got an iPhone 4 and my contact ends next may. Once my contract has finished is the phone mine to do what I want with? For eg sell it, or put another contract on(my contract is £40 at the minute with orange, once I've finished the contract could I put a £15 contract on?)
How does it work?

Yes, once the contract is over the phone will be yours to keep. However, sometimes the providers give you phones which are locked to their network in the first place. For example, they may have given you an iPhone 4 which is locked to the Orange network, meaning you would need to get an Orange contract again (it could just be SIM-only). Obviously there's the option of selling your phone, however there are methods of unlocking it.

Orange will probably give you loads of options and offers to try and keep you with them anyway, but if your phone is unlocked, it's worth taking a look at the other networks.

  • Will an orange pay as you go sim card work in my iphone orange contract phone? My orange phone is still in contract but could do with a different number on pay as you go as well, would rather just get the sim card and swap them over, but can always buy a cheap phone as well
  • When will the iPhone 5s contracts come down in price? When will the iPhone 5s contracts come down? Ideally if anyone works within the mobile phone industry if you have any tips or knowledge of when this is likely to happen after the release of the iPhone 6 it'd be greatly appreciated Ideally networks like Three, O2, Vodafone.
  • Sprint contracts. How do they work? How do they work? I have two lines on my contract right now. I want to add another one. If I get the iphone 5s will I have to pay full price? Or do I get it for 200? Does it depend on my credit? How do I know if I qualify?
  • IPhone prices and contracts? I was thinking about getting an iPhone for Christmas, from the 4s, 5, 5c, and 5s. With a contract for Verizon, how much would each cost for unlimited calling, texting and data. Also, how much would it cost to get them prepaid and for each month?
