Press the power button and the home button at the same time.

When you are on the screen you want to take press the power button and home button at the same time. The screen will go white for a second meaning a picture is taken.
When you want to take a screenshot no matter which screen you're on or on which part of the iOS you are on, press the power and home button simantaneoulsy for a second, you'll then see a white flash which indicates your screenshot has been taken and saved in the camera roll
You'll also hear a camera shutter sound if you've not muted your phone.

That's what I would have thought, but every time I have tried it, my phone will just shut down, or siri will come on. I've tried reseting the phone and It will not work. As a matter of fact, I just tried it while writing this note and it still will not give me a snapshot of the screen.
