How do you shoot youtube videos horizontally on iPad/phone without looking like your looking to one side?
Every video telling you how to shoot a YouTube video always says turn your phone/iPad horizontally. So now I'm shooting in landscape which is perfect.
But because the camera is now to one side. It look like I'm looking away. I can turn my head so it looks like I'm facing the camera but now my neck is twisted and I can't see myself on the screen.
So how does everyone else solve this problem. Everyone claiming to be using iPhones/ipads are always standing perfectly forward and looking directly in the Center. I don't get it
You simply line up the camera's lens with your face. We're trained to always look at the person with to whom we're talking. In your case, the person's face is your own. But you're talking to yourself (well, you kind of are. )
It feels odd to be looking at the lens while there's a person's face on the screen. But you just have to work through it and eventually you'll get use to looking at the lens and not the screen.
Use the LCD screen for framing and compositional purposes only. Maybe once you have everything set up, you can place a card or piece of paper over the LCD screen. Of course if you're showing things and moving around, this is obviously something that you simply can't do.
But really, the only way not to be recorded looking to the side is to NOT look to the side. This really should be self evident.
Let someone else hold the phone?
Use a camcorder so you can get rid of the problem altogether.
